October - WEEK 1
Dig Dig and Dig some more. This is my chosen time to start digging over the plots that have been harvested, spread out your compost bin, as well
start to harvest what is left to harvest
During the first week of October I can usually be found with a sore back as the main potato crop is brought in. As I am fortunate with the weather where I am this is
usually the start of the grape picking and wine making season.
I have seen other websites that when telling you dig your garden always come with a disclaimer about how to avoid a bad back. I prefer a common sense
approach. If you are finding it hard work stop! If your back hurts stop! How hard can it be. If you are digging your garden on my advice, and injure yourself,
this is not because I told you to dig your garden it is because you are daft. So sue me! Disclaimers and health and safety advice sanitize the world we live in
I prefer to make my own descions in life and not be reliant on the state to tell me how to do everything. I am sure no win no fee solicitors would disagree (get a life) - rant over!
Bees are best left alone, the honey season is over and they will be preparing for winter.
